What a Week!

Our second month of school began with a flurry of activity!
We finished up our data unit in math with some fun activities! We did some 'human graphing' - we pushed our tables to the side and our classroom became one huge graph! We did created some single bar graphs, and then some double ones as well! We broke our results into more specific data, such as boys and girls, or grade 4's and grade 5's. It was a fun activity!

Getting ready to graph!
In the middle of a graph!
Graphing is so much fun!
Here's our word of the week! We made a funny, but sad sentence....

We went down to visit our buddies in kindergarten again and did some shared writing together. Their class was reading 'We Share Everything' by Robert Munsch, so we helped them brainstorm some ideas about things that are good to share, and things that are NOT good to share!
Mrs. Lockhart writing down our ideas!
Reading with our buddies- it was a Robert Munsch kind of day!

We started our weekly word study unit.  We begin by looking at our list of 10 words, we sort them according to different features in the words, and then we get to do some fun activities that will help us learn the words.  Everyone has their own list of words!
Working with our word lists!

In Social Studies class one of our students brought in some neat artifacts for us to look at! She had arrowheads that belong to her family.

A rock that was used with sticks to start fires. You can see how the rock was worn down by the stick!

And then we wore moustaches!

Wait. Moustaches?
You bet! Make sure you come and check out our brand new bulletin board display outside of our classroom! We had lots of fun with this activity!

Finally, we tore apart our classroom library, and re-organized every. single. book.
We also got to bring home some books that we didn't think we needed in our library. It was fun to go shopping!  We named all of the new genres and categories and everything is clearly labelled!
It was hard work and took quite a long time, but the library looks amazing now!
The 'after' shots!

Have a great weekend!
Go Jets Go! (and hopefully Go Bombers Go!)
