What a fun way to end the week! Today we Skyped a class in Dominion City, Manitoba (a bit of a drive from us!). Ms. Bertram is a 'Tweep' of Mrs. Waters, and they decided to introduce our classes to one another over a fun game of "Mystery Number"!
Each class chose three numbers ahead of time, and through a series of yes and no questions, we were able to guess each other's numbers! It was a fun activity and really made us use our numeracy skills!
Mrs. Waters holds up our number so we can see, and we are answering the other class' questions! |
We completed Day 3 of our #eduphotoadaymay challenge this morning! The theme was 'outside our window'. We also talked about what photos Mrs. Waters would take over the weekend for our Saturday and Sunday pictures!
Today was also our combined math class with Mr. B's students! Once a cycle Mr. B and Mrs. Waters team up and co-teach our classes together, along with the help of Mrs. Richtik (our resource teacher).
We're finishing up our division unit, and moving on towards fractions and decimals.
What better way to introduce that, than with Drum Math!!
Mr. B is a drummer and created a really fun lesson that introduced fractions with music. We looked at different rhythms and how different beats in a bar of music can be translated into fractions. Mr. B played the different fractions to us on his drum kit. We also looked at some classic rock hits by bands like Bon Jovi, Rush, AC/DC, and Led Zeppelin, and figured out the fractions in those songs!
What a great way to learn!
